Plans are afoot to make some changes in 2008. Our aim is provide our customers with a higher level of service and more pleasurable dining experience at Spillanes. We are considering moving to table service and getting rid of the queue. We feel the buzzer system had a positive effect last summer and we wish to continue on a path of improvement. We would welcome any comments, suggestions and feedback on the things our valued customers currently love and hate about Spillanes.
Monday March 5th 2007
Hopefully the old saying of March coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb is true because we're definitely seeing the lion in the Maharees this week. Big storms again! It seems like it just hasn't stopped since November. Roll on the summer!!
After a couple of months well needed rest we're ready to open up the kitchen at Spillanes again. Friday March 8th is d-day with a limited but tasty menu available from 6-9pm every night. We are also looking for some staff for the summer so email us at info@spillanesbar.com if you're interested.
Mikes 60th birthday this weekend was a big event and great fun. Started off with a quiz at Spillanes on friday night in aid of the Dunmore East families where over 1000 euro was raised. A big thanks to all who took part. Saturday saw all the Spillane gang off to Killarney to party. Mighty craic.
Sunday January 21st
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hennesseys and the other families who have lost love ones at sea over the past week.
New Year 2007
Happy New Year and all the best for 2007 to all our friends and customers. We had a wonderful Christmas and New Years and Spillanes. The weather gave us a welcome break with a week of gloriously fine days and a chance to walk off all the lovely food. Lots of family home and everyone in great form. Happy 21st birthday to Stephanie! Marilyns legendary New Years buffet was fantastic as always and a great holiday was had by all. Best Wishes and hope to see you all sometime in the New Year.

Gosh! What a difference a month makes! It's been wild here for almost a month solid now. Crazy storms, huge swells and howling winds. Great to watch, from indoors:) A few crazy people still go out windsurfing. It's still worth braving the elements for supper at Spillanes though. The winter menu is lovely and it's nice to be waited on by Jeanne, Amy and Liz.
Tuesday November 7th

Some great windsurfing and surfing sessions with a huge number of windsurfers back this season. One week in particular with 3.7 port tack followed by big Mossies starboard tack then back to port tack down the line gowlane again. No where else in the world delivers such a great mix of conditions.

Thursday May 25
Lovely glassy surf at gowlane today.. Tuesday was great sailing conditions. 4.7 weather with small but really fun waves at gowlane and kilcummin. Still a bit cold on the hands though!
Friday May 19
A crowd was a around last weekend for a UKWA(uk windsurfing) event. Disappointing weather didn't allow for much windsurfing competition unfortunately. Congratulations to Phil Horricks on winning the freestyle, held in Gowlane on the Monday. The wind returned in full force as soon as everyone left of course. It's been howling the past few days. Up to 50mph southeasterlies and plenty of rain. It's mellowed a bit again now and a good swell has built up.
Amy and Jodie arrived back this week. Hurrah!
More cleanup still to be done on the beach. Saturday mornings at Spillanes at 10am.
Wednesday May 10th

Sunny, windy and lovely peeling waves at stradbally yesterday. What more could one ask for.. besides a pint and a steak at Spillane's :). And the wind dropped off in the evening with lovely surfing at gowlane. Swell looks nice and clean today with light winds.
Triple Crown Windsurfing Event takes place weekend 12th-15 May. Should be fun.
